Modric suffered a fracture to his right fibula in the 2-1 win over Birmingham in September in a challenge with Lee Bowyer. If he impresses, the 26-year-old could be signed as cover for Carlo Cudicini, who is expected to miss most of the season after injuring his pelvic and breaking his wrists in a motorcycle accident.
