Lennon deal boosts Spurs
09 Jan 2007 - 07:29:29
Tottenham Hotspur's England international winger Aaron Lennon has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract at White Hart Lane.
The 19-year-old joined Spurs in the summer of 2005 from Leeds United and has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in the Premiership.
He has scored four times in 48 appearance for the north London club and was a member of England's World Cup finals squad last summer.
Head coach Martin Jol told the club's official website: "Aaron has taken his chances and made himself into a regular first-team player in a short space of time and we often forget how young he still is.
"As a player he is growing and developing, he is a great talent now and clearly there is so much more still to come.
"He is a prime example of the exciting young talent we are attracting to the club."
Lennon himself added: "I'm feeling really settled here and I'm thoroughly enjoying my football.
"There is a terrific spirit in the squad and we have everything to play for this season."
