Ledley King targets Tottenham return for Champions League clash with Real Madrid

Tottenham have been handed a major boost with Ledley King thought to be a return to first team action just in time for next month's Champions League showdown with Real Madrid. The defender hasn't played since mid-October, but returned to the bench for Spurs' Champions League clash with AC Milan at White Hart Lane. In his absence, Michael Dawson has excelled, even staking a claim for a starting berth at international level, while William Gallas has slipped seamlessly into defence since making the switch from Arsenal. Long live the King: Ledley could return to action next month King's season, much like his career, has been dogged by injuries, with a chronic knee complaint keeping him from even training on a regular basis. The 30-year-old's latest setback, a groin injury has prevented him from playing since a 2-1 win over Fulham. However, sources close to Tottenham's medical team have told the News of the World that they believe King could be fit to face Real Madrid on April 5 in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. Should the defender get through the clash with the competition's favourites, Tottenham are confident their club captain can play a major role in the rest of the season run-in.  King on the mend as Spurs skipper could be back training in a fortnightMichael Dawson keen to use Champions League experience to strengthen grip on regular England spotRedknapp should be next England manager, says Ghana star MuntariAll the latest Tottenham news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: William Gallas, Michael Dawson, Ledley King
