Knee surgery for Huddlestone
18 May 2009 - 11:57:32
Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone will miss the final game of the season against Liverpool after being forced to have surgery on his injured left knee.
The 22-year-old former Derby County star will also miss this summer's Under-21 European Championships.
Meanwhile, Jermain Defoe insists there isn't a drinking culture at the club.
Harry Redknapp has threatened to introduce an alcohol ban at White Hart Lane after Ledley King's recent arrest following his boorish behaviour during a night-out in London.
However, Defoe said: "When you come back from injury, you have to be professional. If you think about it, if I was one of those people drinking every week I don't think I'll be able to perform how I perform.
"It's crazy when you pick up the papers and you read something that's so far from the truth, like you're in a nightclub 48 hours before a game.
"The thing is I've never had a problem. In the time I've been playing football there's never been anything about me drinking.
"I don't see why all of a sudden people say I'm drinking. It's unbelievable. I went to an event on Tuesday , then I was with my family and I went home. We had a day off on Wednesday and I performed on Saturday."
