King vows to be patient
28 Feb 2007 - 07:51:34
Tottenham skipper Ledley King is desperate to return from the metatarsal injury which has wrecked his season but has refused to rush back into premature action.
King has been absent since suffering the injury to his fourth metatarsal against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, but remains positive that he will return to action in the near future.
Spurs had earmarked King for a return to action in the Carling Cup semi-final defeat by Chelsea a month ago, only for the centre-half to suffer another setback in training.
This time, though, King seems determined to take his time before stepping up his comeback.
"If all goes well, I hope to be back at some point in March," he said.
"It seems to be going well at this point, but I thought that last time as well, I was ready to come back and then had a bad reaction.
"I'm taking it quite slowly now and hoping that my foot withstands it this time."
However, despite vowing to take his time, King is hoping to return for some important games towards the end of the campaign with the White Hart Lane club still battling for UEFA Cup and FA Cup glory.
"We are getting closer to the prizes now and there are still some big games to come," he continued.
"To win something would ease the pain of missing out on a chunk of the season.
"To get some silverware is mine and everyone else's goal at the club - and we believe we can do it."
