King set for fresh surgery
14 Jun 2007 - 13:38:05
Injury-plagued Tottenham captain Ledley King is to go under the surgeon's knife once again.
King, 26, aggravated a knee problem while on England duty earlier this month and will have a further bout of surgery next week.
The Spurs skipper had only just recovered from a foot injury which kept him on the sidelines for four months during the last campaign.
King made his international comeback in last month's England 'B' international with Albania, before featuring in both the friendly with Brazil at Wembley and the subsequent 3-0 Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia.
However, he aggregated a tear in his left knee cartilage and is now doubtful for the start of the new season.
"It's a routine operation and it makes sense for Ledley to have it now and use the summer to recover and be back as close to the start of the season as possible," revealed Spurs boss Martin Jol.
