Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King is delighted to finally be back in action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
The 27-year-old England international defender only made his first appearance of the season on Boxing Day after undergoing surgery in the summer.
King admitted that his absence was tough to deal with and he is happy to have suffered no fresh problems since his return.
He said: "Being out made me realise how much I took playing for granted. Touch wood, I am okay.
"I did start to wonder how long it would take. I always knew I'd come through, but was out so long I felt I did not have a job.
"I was always in the dressing room, but there's only so much you can say without playing. And I've always tried to lead by example, so it's hard to comment when you're not playing.
"I have two managers to impress now though. It was tough missing the England Euro 2008 qualifiers, but now Fabio Capello is here and he will assess everyone, including me.
"The knee is fine and hopefully I will have no problem playing two or three games a week.
"I have no fear of tackles and can't play the game wondering if I'm going to hurt myself."
