King happy to be back
11 Sep 2006 - 13:19:04
Tottenham captain Ledley King returned to action in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Manchester United and suffered no ill-effects after being sidelined for five months.
Danny Murphy came on as a substitute for the England international in the 81st minute, but King insists it was only because he was suffering from cramp.
"I went up for a header and came down with cramp," he told Spurs' official website. "I didn't want to go down, but I was in a situation where I wouldn't have been able to move properly so I had to.
"It's not a problem. The knee is fine and hopefully that's behind me - it's now a case of playing games and getting fitness. The gaffer said it was five months since my last full Premiership game and that seems like a long time.
"I've been preparing to come back for a little while now and I was focused on doing a job. I managed to get through it."
King missed the World Cup due to a foot fracture after being ruled out of the final weeks of last season's Premiership campaign, as Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League.
