    King eyes Cup revenge

    08 Jan 2008 - 13:21:30

Captain Ledley King believes Tottenham Hotspur have a score to settle when they take on north London rivals Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Spurs had looked to be on course for the final when they led 2-0 at half-time in the first leg of their last four showdown with the Gunners last season.

But an Arsenal fightback levelled the scores at White Hart Lane, before a 3-1 second leg victory at the Emirates Stadium put Arsene Wenger's side into the Millennium Stadium showpiece.

King missed both legs last season through injury but has admitted he remains hurt by the manner of the defeat.

He told the club's official website: "Having got to the semi-final we want to go on and win it, simple as that.

"We know against a side like Arsenal that we can't afford to make mistakes and we'll be well aware of it when we go to the Emirates.

"It was one of last season's major disappointments. We are hungry to put it right and we are happy we have got the chance to play them again.

"It is in our hands and hopefully we can set it up nicely to come back to the Lane. It is the chance to put it right, drawing 2-2 at home and losing over there was a big disappointment."

Meanwhile, King has called for an improved defensive display starting with the cup meeting against their bitter rivals.

"It is obviously a problem that we are conceding too many goals and it is something that none of us like," he added.

"We are scoring a lot of goals and we have to find the balance between being an attacking side and maintaining a solidity at the back. That is what we've got to find.

"There has been too many mistakes at the back, we've had young defenders come in and we've had to shuffle a lot, which doesn't help. We need to be steady and hopefully we can be from now on."
