Kenwyne Jones tempted by Tottenham as Sunderland star refuses to commit

Kenwyne Jones has admitted he could join Tottenham if Sunderland are relegated on Sunday. The Black Cats head into the final round of fixtures knowing that they will go down should results go against them. And Jones, who scored in Monday's 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth, said: "If we stay up, I'm definitely going to be here. "I've committed myself to the club. I've four years to go on my contract. "If we go down, I don't know what's going to happen. I can't say what's going to happen. Obviously things do happen in those situations. "Tottenham have been strongly linked with me for month upon month but I can't say I know what's going on there, whether it's just paper talk, or what? "Right now, I just have to focus on the job, work hard and do the best I can for Sunderland." A win against Chelsea on Sunday will extend Sunderland's Premier League status but they have lost their last eight games against the Blues, scoring just twice and conceding 21. "It is going to be hard," said Jones. "But every day we have to do what we need to do to try and get that point to secure safety. It is imperative that we do that." Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp was in charge of Jones at Southamton and made a bid to bring him to White Hart Lane in the January transfer window. However, Sportsmail understands that Roque Santa Cruz of Blackburn is Redknapp's No 1 target this summer. Redknapp is on the look-out for new strikers as he makes rebuilding plans ahead of next season. Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko could both be sold as part of a summer turnover at the Lane.
