Kean hopes research pays off
Blackburn boss Steve Kean claims he has identified weakness in the Tottenham side that Rovers can exploit on Sunday as they look to conjure up an unlikely escape from relegation.
Kean hopes Rovers can take advantage of Tottenham's recent slump in form - which he believes could be due in part to the speculation surrounding Spurs manager Harry Redknapp and the vacant England manager's job.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's game at White Hart Lane, the Blackburn manager said: "We have done our work and have decided how we want to go about the game tactically and a couple of things we can exploit in certain areas of the pitch against Tottenham. We know the prize at the end of the season for us is massive."
Asked if Redknapp being linked with the England job had destabilised Spurs, Kean added: "Possibly - I don't know the reason why and the speculation could have had an effect but let's not take away from the squad they still have available.
"They have a lot of good individuals and we have to treat them with respect, but we have been to other very tough away grounds this season and got something from it.
"I don't think we can look at Tottenham's form and the reasons for it - we have just have to keep our own momentum going."
Kean said the Blackburn players are going to have to work harder than ever - something they did last weekend when statistics showed midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen covered more ground than any other player in the Premier League.
"That doesn't surprise me," said Kean. "David Dunn also broke his personal best for the amount of ground he has covered in any game since he has been at the club. That's what it's going to take - everybody doing a little bit extra."
Kean admits his side are going to have to win at least one of their away games at Tottenham and Chelsea to have any chance of staying up.
Rovers have three matches left to play - a home game against relegation rivals Wigan next weekend is the other followed by the trip to Chelsea - and are in need of a minimum six points.
