Jol ponders Keane appeal
26 Feb 2007 - 11:15:37
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Martin Jol is preparing to launch an appeal against Robbie Keane's red card after seeing his side tear Bolton Wanderers apart 4-1 at White Hart Lane.
Keane was sent off after scoring an early double for Spurs, with referee Graham Poll adjudging that the Irishman had handled Ivan Campo's header on the goal-line.
Jol admitted afterwards: "It's a concern because, at 3-1, they are capable of scoring a second goal against ten men and then we could have made it difficult for ourselves, but that didn't happen.
"Instead, we broke away three or four times and could have scored two or three more goals ourselves.
"I would have loved to have seen us play with 11 men throughout because I really had a good feeling.
"If you win games it is not a problem, so I'll have another look at it on Monday. Robbie said he chested it."
Jol then lavished high praise on Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, who was man of the match, despite not getting his own name on the scoresheet.
"It was probably the best performance I've seen from a striker on his own against any team," Jol beamed. "He can play in any team in Europe, he is a top-class player."
