Spurs boss Martin Jol hailed the professional performance of his side after they put MK Dons to the sword in the Carling Cup.

The Premiership strugglers demolished the League Two side 5-0 in the third round as Jermain Defoe helped himself to a brace at the National Hockey Stadium and Mido bagged a double before substitute Robbie Keane sealed the rout at the death.

"It was a professional job because you never know against lower league clubs. But we took our chances and then we had total control," said Jol.

"We were not full of confidence to start with. We had to build up our confidence.

"I'm happy for Jermain because he has scored his first goals of the season from open play."
