Jol hits out at City speculation
Published : 14 Apr 2009 09:30:00
Martin Jol has hit out at reports linking him with jobs at Manchester City and Bayern Munich and stressed his hapiness with life at Hamburg. The former Tottenham boss has done an impressive job since taking over at the Nordbank Arena in 2008 and the club are jostling for this season's Bundesliga title.Hamburg are also well placed in the UEFA Cup after defeating City 3-1 in Germany the first leg of their quarter-final tie, a result which sparked speculation Jol could be set to replace current Eastlands chief Mark Hughes in the summer.Bayern have also been rumoured to be taking an interest, with reports that boss Jurgen Klinsmann is set for the axe at the end of the season. But Jol insists he is happy with Hamburg, telling Bild: "These things are really getting on my nerves, I do not think about it."My aim is to see the Hamburg supporters happy at the end of the season. We are a really big club with great fans and an environment of only a few clubs in Europe."I am very happy to be here and enjoy the fantastic circumstances."Hamburg is a club with a big tradition. Even in England there are only four clubs like that."Jol, whose current deal is set to expire in June 2010, added: "I could really imagine working on here beyond the end of my contract, thus far we have not been talking about an extension."I read the club wants to make the next step. I am curious to find out what this next step will look like."
