Tottenham Hotspur head coach Martin Jol was an angry man after seeing midfielder Hossam Ghaly lose several teeth in a clash with Noe Pamarot in the 1-1 draw at Portsmouth.
Ghaly was caught by a flying boot from the former Spurs defender during the first half at Fratton Park, but battled on until the interval before being forced to leave the field for medical attention.
Jol fumed afterwards: "I have never seen anything like it in my life. I thought it was very cynical.
"I do not know if he was a handsome boy before and he definitely won't be anymore. He lost four teeth, has a fat lip and has had five stitches.
"The referee saw it and he said he had a good view from ten yards away and that it was a not a foul. I cannot believe that decision.
"Hossam did well to keep going for as long as he did but I saw one or two things that suggested he needed to come off."
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp defended his player against Jol's onslaught, adding: "He is talking rubbish. He knows Pamarot and he is not cynical.
"I wish he was more aggressive because he is the most laid-back footballer you will ever meet.
"I thought Ghaly put his head down and got caught as Noe was trying to kick the ball."
