    Huddlestone blow for Spurs

    04 Apr 2007 - 07:36:54

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone will miss the next three weeks after picking up a knee injury in Sunday's Premiership victory over Reading.

The England Under-21 international will miss both legs of the UEFA Cup quarter-final meeting with Sevilla and also Spurs' domestic fixtures during the Easter programme.

"He has injured his knee and could be out for three or more weeks and that is a blow," confirmed Spurs boss Martin Jol.

"Sometimes in football when you play so many games players can be lost to you in a split second, like on Sunday with Tom Huddlestone.

"He is an important player for us and has played a lot of matches, although not so many lately because I feel we have been doing okay with our midfield balance."

Meanwhile, Jol has revealed a clutch of injured players - including captain Ledley King who hasn't featured since Boxing Day - are closing in on a return to first-team action.

"The positive news is that Ledley is doing well and could be back soon, Anthony Gardner is progressing quicker than expected, Hossam Ghaly is back after illness and Teemu Tainio trained fully with the squad on Monday," added Jol.
