Holty: We're keeping Andros steady
Andros Townsend is riding a crest of a wave right now, but his Tottenham team-mates are keeping his feet on the ground.
After numerous loan spells at clubs varying from Yeovil to QPR, the 22-year-old academy graduate has finally come to the fore at White Hart Lane.
Townsend has been one of the stars of the season so far, not only impressing at Tottenham but also helping England qualify for next year's World Cup.
It would be easy to get carried away, but Lewis Holtby and the rest of his Spurs team-mates are making sure the level-headed winger remains just that.
"Andros is a national hero and we are all very pleased for him," Holtby said.
"He has been playing some great football, but he is a young guy and we have been telling him there could be some rocky paths ahead.
"Being a footballer is a long journey and you have to be ready for the bumpy parts. That is what we have been trying to tell him."
Townsend remained in London this week as Spurs flew out to Sheriff Tiraspol for Thursday's Europa League clash.
Paulinho and Kyle Walker were also rested, while a number of first-team players missed out through injury.
Despite that, Villas-Boas' side boasted a vast array in talent, highlighting the impressive strength in depth at Spurs' disposal this term.
"Aaron Lennon came back for us at Villa last weekend and our squad strength is unbelievable," Holtby said.
"Every Tottenham fan must be so happy to see how many top-quality players we have, and our strength in depth on the bench.
"It's amazing, but now the important thing is to deal with that situation and everyone can have a piece of the cake.
"Bayern Munich won three trophies last season because their players were all patient and waited for their turn.
"There were some big players not in the squad, but they took their chance when it came and we've got to do the same thing.
"It's a long, hard season, and the games come thick and fast over the winter, so we have to be up for it.
"When you look at the quality we have, the overall standard is amazing - whether it's Premier League, Europa League, Capital One Cup or FA Cup, we have the players to cope."
