Hearts 0-5 Tottenham Hotspur: Match Report

Tottenham handed Hearts a bitter lesson at Tynecastle as they cut through the home defence to win a one-sided Europa League encounter 5-0.

Rafael van der Vaart set the tone in the fifth minute when he slotted home and Jermain Defoe and Jake Livermore had finished the play-off as a contest inside half an hour of the first leg.

Hearts had a brief spell of pressure immediately after the break but they were thoroughly outclassed and Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon rounded off the humiliation.
