Harry upbeat on Modric return

Croatia international Luka Modric should be fit enough to return to action by mid-October, according to Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.

The 24-year-old midfielder suffered a fractured right fibula in last month's victory against Birmingham City and has missed the recent games against Manchester United, Chelsea, Preston North End and Burnley.

However, Redknapp hopes that Modric will be available to feature in the clash against his former club Portsmouth on October 17.

"He's coming along okay. It's a matter of waiting for the bone to heal now," said the Spurs boss.

"We'll see how it goes. We have a break of two weeks coming up after the Bolton game so that could be enough time to get him back playing after that international break."

Modric has scored five goals in 48 appearances for Spurs since arriving at White Hart Lane from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2008.
