Harry pleased at response

Harry Redknapp was delighted with the response of his Tottenham players to a first defeat under his leadership after they secured a 1-0 win over Blackburn on Sunday.

Redknapp had seen his unbeaten record at the helm of the north London club disappear at Fulham last weekend, but Roman Pavlyuchenko's early goal at White Hart Lane saw them return to winning ways.

The three points also took a resurgent Spurs side out of the relegation zone and up to 15th place in the table to the delight of the manager.

"I was pleased, it was a big game for us," he told the club's official website.

"It was important to see how we bounced back to that first defeat at Fulham last week.

"We worked hard in training, we talked about the game and it was important we got the win."

Meanwhile, Redknapp is hoping a rare clean sheet for error-prone goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will boost the Brazilian's rock-bottom confidence.

"It was important he got that clean sheet," he continued. "When your confidence is low it's difficult.

"It's a lonely position and when you make a mistake it's not like being anywhere else on the pitch.

"He came through well though and, as I said, it was good for him to get that clean sheet."
