Harry not looking for keeper
21 Aug 2009 - 15:23:01
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp will not plunge into the transfer market for a goalkeeper, despite Heurelho Gomes suffering an injury in their midweek win at Hull.
Gomes limped out of the match at the KC Stadium with a thigh injury and Redknapp is awaiting the extent of the damage to the Brazilian.
With fears of a long-term absence, Carlo Cudicini will have a chance for a prolonged spell in between the posts for Redknapp's side.
Young shot stopper David Button has been recalled from a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra and Redknapp believes he has adequate cover at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp dismissed reports of a move for David James, whom he managed at Porsmouth and admitted any more transfer activity at the club this summer was unlikely.
"I couldn't do anything with David," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
"I think he's a great goalkeeper but he belongs to Portsmouth and we're not in the market to buy another goalie.
"As long as Carlo is playing and he's fit then we're okay. We've got two top keepers, one of them is injured, but I've still got Carlo.
"We're not really chasing anybody," he added.
"If somebody comes in and offers silly money for one of our players and it is something we wanted to do, then we may go and find somebody who would improve us."
