Harry not happy with Lennon
25 Oct 2009 - 10:58:24
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp was less than pleased with winger Aaron Lennon following the disappointing 1-0 home defeat by Stoke City.
Lennon limped out of the game with ten minutes left to leave Spurs a man short, with Redknapp having already used all three substitutes, before the visitors struck a late winner through Glenn Whelan.
Redknapp said after the game: "I was hoping he could stay on, but he couldn't and suddenly we were down to ten men. We're not sure what the problem is, he just said he couldn't carry on and that was that.
"I didn't give him a nudge - I just said to him we would only have ten men and could he play on, but he said his ankle was too sore.
"I don't want to say any more, I don't want to cause an issue. It's not about England - he's got big games coming up for Tottenham."
Of his side's failure to break down a stubborn Potters backline and inspired goalkeeper Steve Simonsen, Redknapp added: "We had so many chances.
"The keeper's made great saves, they've kicked shots off the line and they've only had one shot worth talking about."
