Harry hopes for good news
25 Feb 2010 - 11:34:07
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Aaron Lennon will see a specialist as the winger attempts to get to the bottom of his troublesome groin injury.
The 22-year-old England international has been sidelined since picking up the injury in the 2-0 win against West Ham United in December.
Lennon was thought to be close to a first-team return only to suffer a setback in training earlier this week.
Redknapp said: "He's seeing a specialist on Thursday. We just hope we get some good news from Aaron. He's going to see somebody abroad and hopefully we can get somebody who can get to the bottom of the problem for him because he's desperate to play.
"It's shame for him and it's a shame for us. We all miss him, he's a fantastic player."
Meanwhile, Redknapp was fulsome in his praise of Roman Pavlyuchenko after the Russian scored two more goals in Wednesday's FA Cup fifth round replay against Bolton Wanderers.
The striker scored twice in the weekend win at Wigan Athletic and was in fine form again as the Trotters were thrashed 4-0 at White Hart Lane.
"He took his goals well. He's a quality finisher and he's proven that again," Redknapp said after the game.
"Last week he was excellent in training, he was the best player in everything we did, he looked like he wanted to play. Nobody wants to see him do well more than me, it makes my job a lot easier.
"He's a very nice lad but he's laid back and some days he needs a rocket. He's playing like he's had a rocket.
"He's in the team now, his confidence should be high and it's up to him to play well. He's bang in form and I wouldn't see myself leaving him out of the team at the weekend."
