Harry delighted by Huddlestone form

Harry Redknapp believes Tom Huddlestone could be the all-round player he is looking for after improving the defensive side of his game. The 23-year-old has adapted effortlessly to the top flight with his superb passing ability catching the eye, in particular. The former Derby captain has demonstrated that out of defence and now from centre-midfield since making a £2.5million move from the Rams in 2005. Huddlestone has become one of the first names on the Tottenham teamsheet and made more Premier League starts than any other Spurs player last season - 33. He is still an ever-present in the league this term and has started three of Tottenham's four Champions League games so far, including the recent 4-1 home win against FC Twente. Fabio Capello could now hand Huddlestone his competitive debut for England during Tuesday night's Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro after winning three caps in friendlies so far. "Tom's done great for us," Redknapp told the club's official website. "He's a great passer of the ball, he can pick players out, he keeps possession for you. He's got everything, really. "He doesn't know if he's left-footed or right-footed and they (opponents) feel exactly the same, which is amazing and a great advantage when players try to close you down. "They think 'we'll close him, keep him on his right, or on his left', but they can't with him. It gives him so many more options." While Huddlestone has previously played centre-half, his defensive duties as a central midfielder needed some work. That has now been done and Redknapp believes Tottenham are now reaping the benefits. "He made some great blocks for us in the game against FC Twente," added the Tottenham boss. "Just as players were about to unload from the edge of the penalty box, Tom came in and made some fantastic stops for us. He's added that to his game as well, the defensive side is better. "I have said to him that he has to hold and give us stability as everyone else is looking to bomb forward. He's a clever player and understands the game well."
