Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he tried to sign Internazionale winger Ricardo Quaresma on loan before the Portuguese ace joined Chelsea.
The 25-year-old has joined the Blues until the end of the season, with Chelsea having stepped in at the last moment to thwart Spurs' hopes of snaring Quaresma.
Redknapp told Sky Sports News: "I spoke to Inter coach Jose Mourinho on Sunday night for half-an-hour, had a great conversation with him on the phone.
"He was helpful as usual and he said 'yes Harry, you can have him, no problem'.
"But then Chelsea came in out of the blue, so it was difficult. He is an exciting player and I am sure Chelsea have got a good loan player."
Quaresma only joined Inter last summer from FC Porto, but the former Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon wideman has struggled to settle in Italy.
