Harry backs King for call-up
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his '100 per cent' backing for Ledley King to play in England's next two matches. Centre-back King was called up to the last England squad by manager Fabio Capello only to be sent back to Spurs due to concerns over his fitness. The 28-year-old stopper struggles with a long-standing knee complaint which prevents him from training regularly and also playing two games in a week. However, with the season's final round of Premier League matches this weekend, Redknapp would not stand in King's way should he be called upon for June's World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra. Redknapp, who labelled King's previous call-up "mad and pointless", said in The Sun: "I'd love to see Ledley play in the next two England games, I'd be behind it 100 per cent. "These next two games are in June so there would be no problem. It's only in the season where he has to be nursed along."
