Harry: I've always admired Eidur
29 Jan 2010 - 12:37:13
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is in no rush to sell Roman Pavlyuchenko even though Monaco striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has arrived at White Hart Lane on loan until the end of the season.
The former Chelsea, Bolton Wanderers and Barcelona star had been expected to sign for West Ham United but opted to move to Spurs at the last minute instead.
"He's a player I've always admired," said Redknapp. "He can play several positions and is a very clever footballer.
"It was his decision to come to us. I rang him and left a message on his phone and he came back to me and said 'I want to come to Tottenham'. He gives us lots of options. He's a top player.
"But we're still not keen to sell Pavlyuchenko. We're happy with him. Technically he's a terrific player."
Gudjohnsen first made his name in England with Bolton, scoring 18 goals in 55 league appearances for the Trotters between 1998-2000.
He moved to Chelsea in a £5million deal almost a decade ago and scored 54 goals in almost 200 Premier League games for the club before being sold to Barcelona for £8million in June 2006.
