Gunter close to Spurs exit

Chris Gunter is on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest after Tottenham Hotspur agreed to sell the defender.

The 19-year-old Wales international will move to the City Ground for an initial £2million that could eventually rise by a further £1million.

Gunter is expected to agree a four-year contract with Forest after enjoying a successful loan spell with Billy Davies' side at the end of last season.

He made 16 first-team appearances for Spurs following his transfer from Cardiff City in January 2008.

Gunter featured in eight matches for Forest last term as they successfully avoided relegation to League One.
