Gomes fires Cudicini warning

Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes insists he is still first-choice at Tottenham Hotspur, despite the recent signing of Carlo Cudicini from Chelsea.

The 28-year-old Brazilian struggled at first following his arrival from PSV Eindhoven last summer, but started to find his form following the arrival of new manager Harry Redknapp.

However, he has missed the last few games due to a thigh strain, with Cudicini immediately looking at home for Spurs.

Gomes told the London Evening Standard: "Everybody spoke to me about the signing of Carlo Cudicini, but Tony Parks, the goalkeeping coach, said to me 'you are still the number one of Tottenham Hotspur'.

"Cudicini is a good goalkeeper, but did not play so much for Chelsea.

"This week I've seen him for the first time and I think it's a good signing for us."
