Gomes aims to repay faith

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by manager Harry Redknapp.
The error-prone Brazilian has endured a torrid first four months with the north London club following a string of high-profile gaffes since he arrived in a £7.8million deal from PSV Eindhoven.
Redknapp has continually spoken of his faith in Gomes since he took the managerial reins in October and, after keeping two clean sheets in the last three games, the South American is hoping to pay back some of the faith placed in him.
Speaking about Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Everton, he told the club's official website: "I was happy with my performance, even though we didn't win.
"It's been difficult for me recently but I'm strong and I will always give my all for the club.
"The most important thing is that the manager has kept his belief in me. I want to do all I can for this team and help them pick up points.
"Everyone was disappointed after the game on Sunday because we were at home and expecting to win the game, but they made it difficult for us.
"Now it's the Carling Cup on Wednesday (at Watford) and hopefully a win in this competition will give us back our confidence."
