Ghaly makes Spurs exit
20 Nov 2007 - 07:35:55
Hossam Ghaly looks set to leave Tottenham after the midfielder was granted permission to train with his former club in Egypt.
The 25-year-old midfielder has not played for Spurs since reacting angrily to being substituted as a substitute by former manager Martin Jol in a match against Blackburn Rovers towards the end of last season.
Ghaly had been expected to leave White Hart Lane in the summer to join Birmingham City before the move collapsed at the 11th hour.
But after being frozen out at Spurs this season, the Egypt international has been given permission to train with former club Al Ahly ahead of a probable January departure.
"We have given Hossam permission to train with his former club Al Ahly in Egypt as he prepares for the national team's Arabic Cup campaign as well as the African Cup of Nations tournament in January," said Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli.
Ghaly joined Spurs from Dutch side Feyenoord in January 2006.
He went on to make 35 appearances for the north London club, scoring three goals.
