Gareth Bale thanks Tottenham boss Redknapp for transforming his career

Gareth Bale admits he owes a debt of gratitude to Harry Redknapp after the Spurs winger's transformation saw him crowned Welsh Footballer of the Year. Bale's career at Tottenham was heading nowhere before the 21-year-old winger was thrown a lifeline by Redknapp at the turn of the year. The Welshman's sparking form has since seen him linked to a number of Europe's top clubs, including Real Madrid. Ever since I got my chance in January I've just tried toenjoy it. 'Perhaps I was trying to impress too much before that, rather thanrelax and just playing. Harry has played a massive role. He gave thechance and I've gone from there. 'I wanted to prove things and show the world I was capable ofplaying in the Premier League. Hopefully I've done that. But I thinkthere's still more I can do. I want to improve rather than stand still.'
