Eto'o snubs Spurs over move
10 Jun 2008 - 09:47:10
Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of landing Samuel Eto'o have been scuppered after the Barcelona striker revealed he has no desire to join a 'mid-table side'.
Spurs were hoping to lure the unsettled Cameroon international to White Hart Lane this summer in a move that would have reportedly cost them around £25million.
But despite admitting his future at the Catalan club is far from secure, the 27-year-old marksman claims he has no interest in joining Juande Ramos' side.
Eto'o has also been linked with moves to Italy with Internazionale and AC Milan.
The former Real Madrid and Real Mallorca striker insists he is happy to stay at Barcelona unless he is told he is not wanted, but has suggested a move to Inter would be the most attractive proposition.
"Tottenham, and I hope the English fans will forgive me, are a club in mid-table and I need more," he told Spanish media.
"I insist that I have a contract with Barcelona until 2010 and I feel great at the club.
"I cannot exclude the option of Inter, but I want to repeat that I am happy at Barcelona and I feel under no pressure."
Eto'o has scored 77 times in 108 appearances for Barcelona despite his four seasons at the Camp Nou being blighted by serious injury.
