Espanyol dismiss Jarque talk

Espanyol have played down reports linking centre-back Dani Jarque with a move to England to join Tottenham Hotspur.

The highly-rated 24-year-old has been mentioned as a possible target for former Sevilla boss Juande Ramos, now in charge at White Hart Lane.

However, an Espanyol club spokesman told Sky Sports: "We have not received any offers for Jarque, but it is certain that we know of interest from some clubs in the player.

"Now he is an important member of our team and we are not interested in his sale."

Jarque himself added: "I only know of this news through the press because I have not spoken to anyone about the subject.

"My club has not said anything to me and now my objective is to triumph at Espanyol.

"It is normal that I desire to progress like any player, but I prefer to speak about this question if propositions arrive."
