    England hurt for Robbo

    13 Oct 2006 - 12:20:48

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has admitted to being hurt by claims that Gary Neville's bizarre own goal in England's 2-0 loss to Croatia in midweek was his fault.

Croatia were gifted a second goal in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier in Zagreb after Neville's pass back took a wicked bounce off the pitch and bobbled up over the Spurs keeper's foot.

But rather than view the incident as a goalkeeping howler, Robinson insists the own goal wasn't his fault and has been hurt by the criticism he has received in the aftermath.

"I look at the incident and it was just a ridiculous fluke but it was reported as a mistake, as my fault," he said.

"To be treated that way saddens me. I'm very disappointed. I was not expecting to wake up to a barrage of abuse.

"Goalkeepers make mistakes and I've made mistakes as well that have cost goals, but nothing like that has ever happened to me."
