Defensive worries for Jol
16 Oct 2006 - 13:10:45
Tottenham boss Martin Jol is sweating on the fitness of three central defenders ahead of his side's UEFA Cup clash against Besiktas on Thursday.
Ledley King sat out Saturday's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa after failing to recover from the knee injury that kept him out of England's 2-0 defeat in Croatia.
Calum Davenport and Michael Dawson did play at Villa Park, but both took nasty knocks to the face.
Jol told the club's official website: "Michael took a couple of knocks and we didn't want to take a risk with him and Calum broke his nose, so that didn't help.
"Hopefully he'll be okay and I also have at the back of my mind that Ledley could be ready for Besiktas on Thursday. We will assess them all this week."
One player who will definitely miss the trip to Turkey is Hossam Ghaly, who suffered a hamstring injury during the Villa game.
