Deadly Ledley can go to World Cup - Harry
Published : 24 Apr 2010 15:56:00
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is convinced Ledley King will go to this summer's World Cup in South Africa with England. After missing the recent win over Chelsea due to his notoriously fragile knees, King returned to the Spurs line-up at Manchester United on Saturday and scored with a header that seemed set to give his side a precious point. United's late double-salvo put paid to that idea but the memory of his fine block on Dimitar Berbatov will live on for a while and England coach Franco Baldini is bound to pass on positive reports to Fabio Capello when he next sees the Three Lions coach. If Redknapp was picking the squad, he would have no doubts about King's selection. And when he comes to name his final 23, the Spurs boss does not believe Capello will either. "I think he will go to the World Cup," said Redknapp. "Ledley can play every six days and there are six days between games at the World Cup. "He would have to be handled right, and Fabio would need to take advice from our medical staff about that because if you didn't you would break him. "But he is so important. He makes a massive difference to us and a fantastic character to have around. "Imagine how good he would have been without the injury. He would have been unbelievable because he is at the top level now without training."
