Dawson tips Tottenham to see off Shakhtar despite pain in Ukraine

Published: 20 Feb 2009 - 14:28:43

Michael Dawson has not given up hope of European glory despite Tottenham 's late collapse at Shakhtar Donetsk. Spurs conceded two goals in the last 11 minutes in their last 32 round, first leg match in Ukraine. But  the defender was pleased with the performance on the whole from a much-changed line-up and believes his team can turn the tables at White Hart Lane next week. Still in the running: Michael Dawson chases Shakhtar's Yevgen Seleznov (right) 'I thought we did well in the first half and for the first half-hour of the second half - but what happened at the end has cost us,' said Dawson, reports Setanta. The future's bright... Jadson celebrates scoring for Shakhtar 'We knew coming to a place like this they would have a lot of the ball but we're disappointed. It's going to be an uphill task - but we still believe we can do it.' The side included a debut for Dean Parrett, 17, a return in goal for Heurelho Gomes, Tom Huddlestone deployed at centre-half and rare starts for Chris Gunter, Giovani dos Santos and Fraizer Campbell. 'Look at the players who've come in, we had a great team out there and believed we could come here and win,' said Dawson on Five. 'But we know how good we are at home and we'll have to take the game to them.' Boss Harry Redknapp said: 'I felt we contained them easily tonight but to pull a two-goal deficit back isn't going to be easy.'  Shakhtar 2 Tottenham 0: Late pain in Ukraine for Gomes and Spurs Bentley warns Spurs to stars not to take it easy for fear of missing Wembley Inter keep Jenas in limbo at Spurs while Palacios keeps him on the bench ALL THE WEEKEND TEAM NEWS TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET
