Crouch targets double success
11 Nov 2009 - 09:30:13
Striker Peter Crouch is hoping to have reason for double celebration next summer with success for both club and country.
Crouch is determined to be part of a successful World Cup squad with England in South Africa.
Meanwhile, he believes a top-four finish in the Premier League and qualification for the Champions League is within the reach of club side Tottenham.
"That would be the ideal situation," said Crouch, who returned to Spurs from Portsmouth during the summer. "We've got a tough task to get into the top four at club level.
"With England, of course it's going to be tough. We've got a long road and these friendlies will test us. The ultimate goal is to do as well as we can at the World Cup."
Speaking about Spurs, where he has scored five goals in seven starts, he added: "None of the top-four teams of recent years will give up that Champions League easily. They expect to be there every year.
"We're dying to get in there. We're certainly as close as we've ever been to the top four, but there's certainly going to be a lot of hard work to get anywhere near it."
