Comeback win pleases Jol
03 Nov 2006 - 08:53:39
Tottenham boss Martin Jol thought the second-half performance in the 3-1 UEFA Cup victory against Club Brugge on Thursday was his side's best 45 minutes of football this season.
Spurs have made a stuttering start to the campaign and fell behind to the Belgian side at White Hart Lane before a Dimitar Berbatov double and a Robbie Keane goal helped them secure a second successive win in Group B.
"Their goal was disappointing and we didn't play particularly well in the first half," Jol admitted after the match.
"Although we had chances for Robbie (Keane), (Hossam) Ghaly and JJ (Jermaine Jenas), it was not easy for find the forward players and there wasn't the link-up between the midfield and forwards.
"But the second half was probably the best this season. We had flank play, the build-up was good, we kept possession, moved the ball around and we created chances.
"We could have scored five or six goals and that wasn't easy because Club Brugge dropped off deep.
"There were some very good performances out there. Lennon was a delight to watch and, if Berbatov was good against Besiktas, he was better this time, but I don't want to pick out individuals. Overall I'm a very happy man."
