French defender Pascal Chimbonda has completed his return to Tottenham Hotspur after a six-month spell with Sunderland.
The 29-year-old only made the move from White Hart Lane to Wearside in the summer, but held talks with the north London club on Monday before sealing his return to the capital.
The former Wigan Athletic defender made only 16 appearances for the Black Cats and was rumoured to have had disciplinary problems with former boss Roy Keane earlier on in the campaign.
Sunderland's current boss Ricky Sbragia told the club's official website: "He has struggled to settle here and it's an opportunity for him to start playing first-team football.
"I thought he was outstanding on Saturday, but he has struggled personally. If the talks don't work out for him at Spurs, we'd be happy to have him back."
