Chimbonda eyes Spurs stay

French full-back Pascal Chimbonda is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old former Wigan Athletic defender is currently in his second season at White Hart Lane, having been linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer.
Chimbonda's agent, Willie McKay, told Sky Sports: "We're in talks over a new deal. I've spoken to Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli about an extension.
"Talks are going well and we're waiting until after the next match to try and conclude things."
Chimbonda cost Spurs a mere £500,000 when he joined from the Latics in the summer of 2006, having spent just one season with Wigan before asking for a transfer.
Meanwhile, Chimbonda has revealed that he was close to a switch to Stamford Bridge a few months ago, telling L'Equipe: "Both clubs had discussions without finding an agreement.
"It would have been a massive opportunity, but life goes on."
