Eye-catching: Bale has been in good form Harry Redknapp has hailed Tottenham defender Gareth Bale, saying he could become the best left-sided player in the world. Bale, a £5million signing from Southampton in 2007, has been in fine form since January. He was pushed into midfield for last Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at Fulham and excelled in the role, as well as being voted player of the fifth round for his all-action display against Bolton. And Redknapp believes the the 21-year-old Wales international's versatility, pace and skill will see him develop into one of the finest players in the game. 'Gareth is playing superbly, he's been in great form,' said Redknapp.'I didn't want to shift him from the left-back position because he'sbeen outstanding there but we didn't have many spare bodies at Fulham. 'He can play wide left or left back anyway, he can do both jobs andhe was a real threat. He's in great form and is full of confidence. 'He's got bigger and stronger and people forget he's still only ayoung lad. He's toughened up a lot, his attitude is stronger, he'sphysically stronger, mentally stronger and he has terrific ability, pace, a great left foot - he's got everything. 'I think he will go on to be one of the best left-backs or left-sided players in the modern game.'
