Bond targets repeat showing
26 Jun 2009 - 09:34:00
Tottenham Hotspur number two Kevin Bond is hoping history can repeat itself and lead to a strong start to the new campaign.
Spurs open their 2009/10 campaign with a home game against Liverpool followed by trips to Hull City and West Ham.
The north London club took a maximum nine points from the corresponding fixtures last season and Bond is hoping for more of the same when the campaign kicks off on August 15.
He told the club's official website: "A repeat of those results would be fantastic.
"Everyone wants to get off to a good start, to get some momentum going, confidence and points on the board and that is made all the more difficult when you are playing one of the very best teams like Liverpool.
"It will be tough but every team knows that White Hart Lane is a very difficult place to go to and hopefully it will remain the same next season.
"Hull had an unbelievable time at the start of last season and they will want to repeat that because it's what stood them in good stead when they had a difficult end to the season.
"We won at Hull last season and we'll have to go and want to do the same.
"West Ham is always a big game for everyone, a huge occasion for the fans and it would be lovely to be unbeaten after that first week.
"They are tough fixtures but my own view is that I'm reasonably philosophical about it, you have to play every team twice and we can't affect when we play them - we're dealt what we're dealt with."
