Berbatov ready to refocus

Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov claims he is happy the transfer window has now closed so that he can concentrate on matters on the pitch.

The Bulgaria international was heavily linked with moves to several clubs - including Manchester United and Chelsea - while the window was open last month.

Berbatov's agent also fuelled the speculation after suggesting he was ready to move away from White Hart Lane.

However, the 27-year-old remained at the north London club and claims he is now relieved the speculation has ended until at least the summer.

The coveted striker has scored 37 times in 84 games for Spurs after signing from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2006.

"I'm just glad the transfer window is closed so I can at last put all my thoughts into doing my best for Tottenham," he said.

"All this constant rumour and speculation can mess with your mind and have an adverse effect on your game.

"You could say I should be used to it by now, but it doesn't get an easier. My head has not always been right.

"There is still a lot of work to be done if I am to reach the level I want to be at and achieve the goals I am aiming for.

"Now all the uncertainty is over, for the time being at least, perhaps I can concentrate on getting beck to my best."
