Berbatov agent in no rush
19 Jul 2007 - 08:54:56
Dimitar Berbatov's agent claims he is planning talks over a new contract with Tottenham, but insists there is no rush to thrash out a fresh deal for the Bulgarian ace.
Berbatov netted 26 times during his debut season in the Premier League which led to speculation that he was wanted by the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The Bulgaria international arrived at White Hart Lane in a £10.9million move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, but although his representative Emil Dantchev is planning talks over a new deal, he claims there is no hurry to sit down with chairman Daniel Levy.
"We have wanted to leave Dimitar to concentrate on his preparations for the new season," Dantchev told the Daily Star.
"But at some point I will be coming over to discuss a little bit about the future with Mr Levy.
"At the moment I have no comment to make about the player and he's being left to work and concentrate on the new season.
"He had a very good first year and it is important he is left to get on with trying to help the club and take the new step and get into the Champions League next season."
