Bent makes Spurs pledge
29 Dec 2007 - 13:13:42
Tottenham's record signing Darren Bent has vowed to win over his doubters and prove value for money at White Hart Lane.
The England striker has started just seven Premier League games and scored three goals since signing joining the north London club in a £16.5million deal from Charlton Athletic in the summer.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a January move to West Ham United where he would link up again with former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley, but Bent insists he wants to stay at Spurs.
Bent has failed to dislodge Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane as the club's first-choice strike pairing so far this season.
"People are always going to pick out someone who cost a lot of money and, so far, it's fair to say Tottenham haven't seen the best of me," he told the Daily Mirror.
"But it's only been six months. Some people go on like I've been here for two years and it simply hasn't worked.
"But it will work and I will turn it around."
