Benoit allegation dropped

A fan has withdrawn his allegation that Tottenham Hotspur full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto assaulted him after Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Wolves.

The 25-year-old Cameroon international will face no further investigation despite being involved in a confrontation with a supporter as he left the White Hart Lane pitch.

The Football Association has also said it will take no further action over the incident.

One eye witness had said that Assou-Ekotto raised his hands to the supporter's neck after receiving verbal abuse.

A Tottenham spokesman said: "The club takes the conduct of our supporters and players, and the relationship between them, very seriously.

"The fan and Benoit are due to speak this week to bring an amicable end to the matter."
