Bale to get 'special treatment' - Flynn

Gareth Bale can expect to be tightly marked in Switzerland, and for the rest of his career, according to Wales caretaker manager Brian Flynn. Flynn is hoping Tottenham star Bale can produce his best form tonight to help kickstart Wales' disappointing Euro 2012 qualification campaign. Wales have lost their opening two matches in Group G and must win in Switzerland to retain any slender hope of reaching the finals in Ukraine and Poland. And 21-year-old Bale, despite only establishing himself in the Spurs side in the past year, suddenly carries the burden of a nation's hopes having emerged as a world-class talent. Bulgaria were aware of his threat and gave him close attention in their win at the Cardiff City Stadium last Friday and Flynn feels he will have to get used to such treatment. Flynn said: "The Bulgarians doubled up on him; special treatment, he has to work it out. "He has to be clever, he can't rely on pace to get him out of a situation. The tag of being a match-winner he carries on his shoulders. He is regarded like that by Tottenham now. "It is a big responsibility but he is capable of carrying that. "I told him at 15 he was extra-special and I think he will get even better as well."
