Bale: Home form is crucial
Tottenham ace Gareth Bale believes the club's form at White Hart Lane will be key to their success this season. Spurs have suffered just six defeats at home in 56 Premier League matches since manager Harry Redknapp took the helm in October 2008. After a disheartening 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City at the Lane in August, Spurs have recovered to notch impressive home victories over Liverpool and Arsenal. Wales winger Bale believes the north Londoners must continue to thrive on their own turf if they want to compete for a spot in the top four this term. "I think the main thing for any team is home form," Bale told Tottenham's official website. "You look at Manchester United and they haven't lost (at home) in who knows how many games. "We want to make White Hart Lane a place that when teams come here, they fear us. "We're looking to do that and I think as long as our home form's good then we'll be right up there." Spurs have secured four successive wins in the league and Bale says recent victories over high-profile opponents, particularly fierce local rivals Arsenal, have provided a huge boost to the club. "It's massive for us to beat the bigger teams, especially our local rivals, which is important, not just for us but for the fans," he added. "We look to win every game and hopefully we can keep doing that." Tottenham travel to in-form Newcastle when domestic action resumes this weekend and Bale is hoping they can put a stop to the Toon's unbeaten streak. He added: "They've made a great start to the season. "It will be a test for us, but one we'll be ready for and hopefully we'll go up there and make it five on the trot in the Premier League."
